Herbs For Immunity

The entire world is fighting the pandemic. Vaccinations, social distancing, and masks may be some preventive measures but with rising levels of COVID-19 patients and mortalities, drug dependency is not the solution. Immunity levels are taking a beating, and we must not depend on artificial supplements alone to get health and wellness.

Nature has blessed us with tremendous herbs and therapies to fight common to severe ailments. Ayurveda brings us a vast universe of herbaceous plants for resistance against diseases and to strengthen us. Here are some common herbs to cleanse body toxins and boost immunity levels.

Ashwagandha (Indian Ginseng)

All parts of the Ashwagandha plant such as root, leaves, bark, fruit, and seeds have medicinal properties to strengthen immunity. Ashwagandha’s anti-inflammatory action treats skin diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, nervous system disorders, anxiety, depression, body fatigue, exhaustion.

Consume Ashwagandha powder in warm milk or water, or take it in tablet or capsule form.

Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Ancient Veda and Hindu scriptures have been worshipping the Tulsi plant for ages. Tulsi plant has high anti-contagious properties to treat common cold, cough, asthma, sore throat. It is also beneficial for skin diseases, stomach ulcers, and helps to remove excess kapha from the lungs.

Consume Tulsi leaves in warm fluids like tea, or put a few drops of Tulsi liquid in warm water, milk, and hot beverages.

Amla (Indian Gooseberry)

Amla is one of the richest sources of vitamin C and is good for immunity, strength, and body rejuvenation. It helps to improve hemoglobin content and can also soothe joint pains, and improves hair texture, and increases hair growth.

Consume Amla in raw form. Consider amla-enriched Chyawanprash to boost immunity and concentration. You can also eat Amla candies or mix Amla powder with honey.
